What is a workplace trainer?

The trainer is responsible for the trainee from the beginning to the end of their vocational training.

Main responsibilities

  • Recruit and hire the trainee
  • Organize the training plan throughout the vocational program
  • Train and support on a daily basis
  • Assess knowledge and skills

What are the requirements to become a workplace trainer or to enroll in CFFE training?

Job-specific requirements are listed in the Training Ordinance.

Minimum requirements to practice

  • Hold a CFC or another recognized equivalent qualification, or have foreign diplomas recognized by the competent authority, in the same field as the apprentice’s training.
  • Have at least 2 years of professional experience in Switzerland in this field after obtaining your own diploma (note: some professions require 3 or 4 years, or a higher diploma).
  • Complete training in vocational pedagogy.

Admission requirements for the training

  • Workplace trainers without pedagogical training
  • Workplace instructors (with employer's approval)
  • Candidates in higher education programs (e.g., federal diploma)

Important:

To register in the canton of Vaud, you must provide proof of employment and/or residence in Vaud. Applications not meeting the profession’s requirements will not be validated.

Alternating in-person and online sessions over several weeks.

  • 1 in-person introduction day to training (8h)
  • 3 online modules (M1 to M3) (~12h)
  • 1/2 day of coaching via video conference (4h)
  • 3 online modules (M4 to M6) (~8h)
  • 1 in-person synthesis day (8h)

Visit the Centre for Continuing Education (CEP) website to start your registration.

Choose your format

Select your preferred training format (blended or e-learning) based on your availability.

Required documents

Complete your registration on the CEP website by submitting the required documents (CV, employer certificate, etc.).

CEP validation

Wait for your application to be approved by CEP.

e-cffe.ch Platform

After your registration is validated by CEP, you will receive an email from the company WorkStreams. It will explain how to create an account on www.e-cffe.ch and the deadlines to complete your training.
